Home / Bereavement Services / Bereavement Support – Seminars with Dr Bill Webster
Dr Bill Webster the grief counsellor who is well known for supporting the Bereaved

Bennetts Funeral Directors partners with Dr Webster to present two bereavement support seminars.

On the 10th of September 2026, Bennetts Funeral Directors in Ongar and Brentwood will be honoured to once again welcome Dr Bill Webster, a renowned grief counsellor, author, and international speaker, to share his expertise and insights on coping with loss.

With over 40 years of experience, Dr Webster brings a compassionate and practical approach to understanding grief, helping both individuals and professionals navigate the difficult journey of bereavement.

Since 2009, Bennetts Funeral Directors has worked with Dr Bill Webster to support people experiencing grief, as well as those who care for and support the bereaved. His guidance and training have helped shape the way we approach bereavement support, including ‘The Grief Journey’ bereavement support programme, our ‘New Era’ support groups in Brentwood and Billericay, and ‘Our Grieving Hearts’—a group dedicated to parents who have lost a much-loved child.

Grief: “The Unwelcome Journey”

Losing someone you care about can be one of the most difficult experiences of life. There are no words to fully describe the pain that follows a loss.

Dr Bill Webster understands this not only through his professional experience, but also personally, following the death of his wife and, more recently, his son.

Bennetts Funeral Directors is pleased to sponsor two seminars with Dr Bill Webster as he shares valuable insight, and offers practical strategies to help people work through grief and find healing and hope.

Seminar 1: Grief — “The Journey Begins”

Thursday 10th September 2026
1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
St Martins Church Rooms, Castle Street, Chipping Ongar, Ongar, CM5 9AT

The days and weeks that follow a loss can feel overwhelming. Dr Bill will help attendees understand what and why these confusing and emotional reactions are part of the healing process, with practical suggestions and strategies for helping ourselves and others through grief.

Please note that no on-site parking is available, but pay and display parking can be found at Ongar Library or Sainsbury’s.

Seminar 2: “The Ongoing Journey”

Thursday 10th September 2026
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Sawyers Church, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood, CM15 9BN

Some people may say, “It’s been three months, you ought to be over it by now.” But grief is never that simple.

In this seminar, Dr Bill will discuss the ongoing challenges of grief, including guilt, anger, loneliness and adjusting to life as it now is. He will also offer practical suggestions and strategies to help those living with loss.

Limited parking is available on site, with street parking also available after 6:00 pm.

A Supportive Space for the Bereaved

Both seminars offer a compassionate and understanding space for those who are grieving, as well as for those who wish to better support someone through bereavement.

Light refreshments will be provided at each venue.
