Our “New Era” Bereavement Support Group was formed in January 2007, and has gone from strength to strength. There are no trained counsellors at the group, just people of all ages, in a similar situation helping and supporting each other. Everyone is made to feel very welcome.
“Our Grieving Hearts” is a bereaved parents support group in Brentwood which started in June 2011 following a call from a lady whose children had died. Several families who we knew had lost children were contacted to establish if they too were interested in meeting others in a similar situation, in order that they would be able to share their experiences, and in doing so help and support one another. Since the first meeting we have not publicised this group or actively sought any other parents to come along, however, this small group feel that encouraging others to come along id of benefit to those who already attend, together with any who may wish to join.
We hold an Annual Memorial Service at the Regimental Chapel at Great Warley, members of the group have, in the past helped with the service – providing poems and readings and talking about their experiences. The service is non-denominational and anyone is welcome to attend.
