Arranging a military funeral

Every man and woman who has served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Navy deserves a funeral that respects their own individual service to our Country over the years. Many veterans have indicated their wishes when writing their Wills, whilst others do not realise that they can have a military ceremonial funeral for their final journey.

Help with costs

Anyone who dies in military service should receive help from the Armed Forces with funeral costs. Alternatively, where the family prefers to organise a private funeral, the Ministry of Defence will provide a grant towards the cost. If you lose someone who has previously served in our Armed Forces, or you are ex-Forces and you lose someone, then SSAFA the armed forces charity can look for ways to assist you with practical challenges and may be able to get you help with the financial costs associated with your situation.
