Funeral Costs and Payments
Whilst planning and arranging a funeral, we will advise on the funeral costs and payments to be incurred, culminating in a written estimate. When you feel confident with the funeral commitment you have arranged, we ask you to sign the arrangement form to confirm these details. We will send you a confirmation copy of all the arrangements together with the estimate for your perusal. (This is for your information, and is not the funeral account). The final account will be sent a few days after the funeral has taken place. Payment is expected within 30 days of the account date.
Please let us know as soon as possible if there are difficulties in settling the funeral costs and payments. The funeral account is the only account payable after death that can be paid before probate is granted. If there are sufficient funds held within a bank or building society we can send the account directly to them. Should the account not be settled within one month of the invoice date, we would send you a reminder, please keep us informed of your situation. We would, if necessary use our debt collection agency to assist us in gaining our funds.
We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at 2½ % per month or part month thereof.
How the costs and charges are made up
The costs and charges comprise of three sections.
- Funeral Directors Fees, these are purely our charges for the coffin, hearse and limousines etc.
- The disbursements on the fees and expenses incurred on behalf of the family, and are divided into two sections. The first section is items which we would generally arrange on the families behalf such as Cemetery fees, Ministers fees etc.
- Second section is made up of items which the family could arrange but which we also do to make life more simple for them. Items such as insertions of death notices, florist and printing orders of service.
