Dressing your loved one for the funeral
Bennetts know that many people, when planning and arranging a funeral, prefer their loved one to wear their own clothing when they are buried or cremated. It’s a personal choice for you to make.
When dressing the deceased any attire that reflects a personal passion, hobby, occasion or achievement is increasingly popular. This might include wedding dresses, football strips, military uniforms or motorbike leathers. You are also more than welcome to bring in your loved one’s make-up, perfume or aftershave.
Dressing the deceased in their own clothing is usually perfectly fine – although there may be some exceptions, particularly for cremations (we need to comply with regulations which restrict certain materials).
So if you are arranging a funeral for a loved one, please feel free to ask us for advice if you’re considering providing clothing for dressing the deceased.
Alternatively, Bennetts Funeral Directors, Essex, can supply gowns with each of our coffins and you can view these alongside our coffin interiors.
