Bereavement Courses & Support Seminar
Free seminars for those seeking Bereavement Support
Over many years, we at Bennetts Funeral Directors recognized that support was needed for the bereaved in our community. To this end, we started our own Bereavement Support Group in 2007 and in 2010 began a series of Grief Journey courses following facilitator training from Dr Bill Webster, a grief counsellor with 25 years of experience supporting grieving people.
Dr Bill Webster is a grief counsellor, author and well known international speaker. He brings a unique blend of personal experience, academic education and many years of practical application to his work. Acknowledged as a dynamic, personable and practical communicator, Dr. Bill Webster combines his own story with his knowledge and sense of humour to effectively communicate his message. He has conducted seminars, both for professionals supporting grieving people and for the bereaved themselves. We are happy to announce that Bennetts Funeral Directors of Brentwood and Billericay, Essex, along with two fellow Funeral Directors, have arranged for Dr Bill to conduct Free Bereavement Seminars in the past, and due to the huge success we will be arranging more in the future.
Please contact Lucienne at Bennetts Funeral Directors to secure your place on future events either by email email@example.com/ or by telephone on 01277 627492.
Grief Journey Essex
Bereavement Support across Essex
Jane Bennett of Bennetts Funeral Directors, along with two other funeral directors, T Cribb & Sons and Paul J King have joined together in recognising the need to provide much needed grief support across the county. They have all found that the bereaved needed more bereavement support after funerals and together have joined forces to provide this.
Working together with Dr Bill Webster, a world renowned bereavement specialist, all three funeral directors staff have completed a facilitator course. Since then Grief Journey Essex has been formed to cover from the East End to North and South Essex offering a wide range of services. Grief Journey Essex runs Bereavement Support Training Seminars for Hospitals in the areas as well as Seminars for Ministers, Teachers and Midwives, anyone whose role brings them into contact with the bereaved.
Courses are held at various locations throughout Essex and are open to anyone who wishes to attend, these courses are provided FREE.

When Words Are Not Enough
Bereavement Support for Children, Teenagers & Parents.
Dealing with situations of loss and crisis can be one of the most challenging experiences of our work, and in those circumstances most of us struggle with what to say and do to help.
We have given Dr. Bill a mandate to help enable participants both to understand and facilitate grief support in our schools, both in helping children and teenagers deal with loss, AND how to help support parents in the loss of a child.
This seminar will offer a unique and innovative paradigm of crisis response and grief process, as well as providing specific skills to enable us to attend to specific crisis and grief situations. The outcome of this educational afternoon will be to help enable schools and other agencies to create their own support network to cope with bereavement of crisis in their community, by developing and rehearsing practical skills that can be used when these inevitable situations arise in YOUR neighbourhood.
- Social Perspectives on Grief and Loss
- Traumatic Loss
- Crisis Intervention
- Cumulative grief
- Children and Grief
- The Loss of a Child
- Coping Mechanisms
- Support Strategies
PLUS group interaction and reflection, and video examples.
There will be an opportunity to buy Dr Bill Webster’s books and DVDs at these events. Please see the Grief Journey website for information on publications.
I cannot emphasize enough how good Dr Bill Webster is, and more especially so when backed up with his literature and DVDs. For me the most important aspect of his work is that it puts together feelings, emotions, and fears which are experienced by so many people and it ‘normalises’ it all. So many people have thought they were becoming ill or ‘going mad’, until they realised that in actual fact they are ‘normal’.
If you are interested in attending the seminar to support young people, please contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org/ or telephone me on 01277 210104, or for the Bereavement Seminar please contact Lucienne via email at email@example.com/ on by telephone on 01277 627492.
