All Saints Church, East Horndon Open Day Saturday 8th October 2016, 2 – 4pm
We at Bennetts received this email and would like to help the friends of All Saints Church, East Horndon promote their Open Day, its such a beautiful church.
Dear friends of All Saints, East Horndon,
We are pleased to announce that there will be an open day on the 8th of October, 2016 from 2 – 4 pm.
The reason for this open day is to show off the work that will have been done by the Ford Powertrain Control Department in Dunton as part of their annual community project. There will be around 80 volunteers doing work inside the church, and in the church yard, clearing the years and years of growth, uncovering graves and monuments, and creating a permanent path to the wargrave of Pilot Officer Goodchild, which is currently inaccesible. Some areas have been cleared over the past few years, but as is the thing with nature, the weeds and grass and brambles always grow back.
The second purpose for this email, is to make a plea for gardening volunteers so that once this gardening work has been done, and we will have a nice clear graveyard, that with some regular maintenance we will be able to stay on top of this. Currently Joyce Truscott and her husband Malcolm, and family and friends of Moira Baker, have been the only ones cutting the grounds, or a path to the church on a regular basis.
PLEASE help us! Please come forward if you are able to help with grass cutting or strimming, even if just once or twice a year, it will be such a big help.
In the meantime, we hope to see you on the 8th of October, from 2 – 4pm.
