Essex Countryside Charity 60 Mile Bike Ride
Sunday 26th June for those that can remember was a scorcher! One of the few days our weather reached 80+ degrees.
8.15am Claire and 3 friends embarked on the annual 60 mile bike challenge around Essex Countryside in aid of Little Havens Hospice. Winding through picturesque villages and country lanes, entrants cycled three routes, 10 miles, 25 miles or 60 miles. Starting in Chelmsford the 60 mile challenge took us through Great Baddow, Howe Green, Danbury, Bicknacre, Latchingdon, Maldon, on to Little Baddow, Boreham, Great Leighs, Little Leighs, Howe Street with the home run through Pleshey, High Easter, Good Easter, Mashbury, Great Waltham, Broads Green and back to Chelmsford. And a few more villages in between. Finally completing the course after 6 hours and 20 minutes, th a slight hint of a sun tan, a very long drink was in order. After collecting all the sponsorship money in Claire hopes to have in excess of £400 to give to the hospice.
