Billericay Community Cinema 8th December 2016 sponsored by Bennetts Funeral Directors

Billericay Community Cinema – 8th December 2016 – Our experience

Bennetts Funeral Directors in Billericay kindly sponsored ‘Holiday Inn’ on Thursday 8th December.

As a member of the team myself and my husband Martin went along to represent Bennetts.

When we arrived there was a small queue outside the library, but we could see inside the library that a lot of activity was going on, and there were lots of Christmas trees and lights!

At 7pm the doors opened. We were greeted by Adam Adshead and walked through an enchanted tunnel of fir branches and lights. As the film theme is based on a hotel, the community cinema decorate the library to complement the film. So….. we were basically in a very plush hotel reception! Red carpets, rope rails etc…

We handed our tickets to the ‘receptionist’ and continued into the library area. There were small tables with candles on, where you could sit and relax whilst you listened to a live singer singing Christmas songs. The other chairs were in front of a very large screen for the film.

We were given a programme with information about the Community Cinema, the film, forthcoming films and a drinks/snacks menu.

Some of the volunteers were dressed in dinner jackets, and the wonderful female volunteers were dressed very similar to the Lyon’s Tea Shop ladies.

We were told that once seated we would have waitress service and therefore not have to queue up for refreshments.

You could smell the popcorn!

All the drinks were served in ‘proper’ glasses, and the coffee/tea was served in beautiful china cups and saucers which made this experience really special.

We had an interval throughout the film, and again, were waited on by the Lyon’s ladies (as I call them!)

When the film finished and it was time to leave, Adam thanked us all and asked again for any feedback.

When leaving the library, we were given a candy cane which was a really lovely gesture, and when we came outside they had provided a SNOW MACHINE!!!!

Going to Billericay Community Cinema is a really fantastic experience, and the volunteers work tirelessly to help make it a really enjoyable community experience.

Looking forward to my next visit!
