Bereavement Seminar – Christchurch Warley

Dr Bill WebsterIn Support of the Bereaved

As funeral directors Bennetts have been helping the bereaved and carrying out funeral arrangements for 119 years, they are sensitive of the difficulties faced by many people following their bereavement, the grief journey can continue for a long time.  Sadly this journey can be further complicated by other problems.  Jane Bennett and her colleagues are aware of the problems faced by many and three years ago set up their own self help support group which meets every second Wednesday of the month at St George’s Church Hall along the Ongar Road from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Members have confirmed the benefit they have gained from belonging to this group, especially as they feel a bond with others who have experienced bereavement.

To further help the bereaved we are running a Bereavement Seminar day on Thursday 6th May at Christchurch, Warley Hill, Brentwood, CM13 3AA.  Dr Bill Webster is the director of the Centre for the Grief Journey.  His knowledge of the grief process is a unique blend of personal experience, academic education and practical application. Born and educated in Scotland he moved to Canada to be married. After his wife died suddenly in 1983 Bill struggled to come to terms with his loss. As part of his doctoral work at the University of Toronto he made a study of the grieving process. He has developed grief support programmes in many communities and has extensive experience in helping people come to terms with their loss.

Acknowledged as a dynamic, personable and practical speaker, Dr Bill Webster combines his own story with his knowledge and sense of humour to effectively communicate his message.

The session which runs from 2.00pn until 4.00pm is for the bereaved, not only will the grief journey be discussed but also everyday and practical topics, there will be a question and answer session at the end.  The evening session is for professionals, those who support the deceased; ministers, carers, doctors, schools etc, this will run from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.

On 9th May we are organising a Memorial Service, this will take place at the non-denominational Regimental Chapel in Eagle Way, Warley at 6.00pm, the service will be led by Revd Peter Thomas with members of the bereavement group and Bennetts staff participating.

Anyone is welcome to join our self help bereavement group, the Bereavement Seminar with Dr Bill Webster and/or the Memorial Service  regardless of who carried out funeral arrangements and when the funeral was.

Should you require further information on any of the above or to book a place for Dr Bill Webster please call Lucienne on 01277 624289 or Janet on 01277 210104. Admission is free to all of the above.
