Bennetts Funerals Directors of Brentwood & Billericay, Essex Spring Newsletter

March 2012

Dear Friends and Colleagues

We are contacting you with information about various events which we are holding and services which we provide, we would appreciate you displaying the flyer’s and passing on the information as you think appropriate. (Flyer downloads available on request)

Last year we raised in the region of £1500 through various events for Crossroads Care; what a worthy cause they are, and so needy particularly now as they have had over £100,000 of crucial funding for after school clubs cut.   At our quiz night last month we raised £1700 for the Breast Cancer Trials Unit at Epping.  This year our chosen charity to raise funds for at our events is The Alzheimer’s Society.

Bennetts Memorial Service – Sunday 29th April 2012

Bennetts hold a memorial service each year at The Essex Regimental Chapel in Warley; all families are welcome to attend.  The service this year will begin at 4pm, Father David Gilchrist, Chaplain at Brentwood School will kindly take the service.  Dr Bill Webster, world renowed grief counsellor will be there also to say a few words.  A retiring collection will be taken for the Alzheimers Society.

Dr Bill Webster’s Seminars

Dr Bill Webster is coming over to continue our facilitator training in early May.  As part of Grief Journey Essex he is holding six seminars across the county, four of these are for professionals who support the bereaved, including those who have lost children, one is for those who support folk with life threatening situtions and one is for the bereaved.  To book places please call Lucienne on 01277 624289.

Our self help bereavement support group started in 2007, we have many members who come along to our monthly meetings , and these are held on the second Wednesday of the month (excepting April this year when it will be on the 18th April).  The group meets at St Georges Church Hall, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm; refreshments are served to those attending.  Please call Janet on 01277 210104.

Bennetts Grief Journey Courses

Throughout the year we run free six week structured Grief Journey courses at various venues.  Designed by Dr Bill Webster, these courses have been beneficial in assisting many people come to terms with their grief since we started running them two years ago.  The next course will start in Ingatestone on Thursday 17th May.  For further information please call Lucienne on 01277 624289.

Brentwood Bereaved Parents Group

At the request of a bereaved parent we set up this group last year.  The group meets on the first Monday of the month for discussion and support.  In September we will be running a six week Grief Journey course specifically for Bereaved Parents.  For further information please call Janet on 0177 210104.

Funeral Planning Wish List

Over the years the situation has frequently arisen where families are unsure of what funeral arrangements to make for a loved one, most will know the main factors, whether the funeral should be a burial or a cremation, some unfortunatley do not.  When it comes to the finer detail though, many families struggle with decisions as to the style of coffin, type of service, flowers and music.  With this in mind we have devised a ‘Wish List’, downloadable from our website and with the ability to submit from our secure website too.  We have covered most aspects of the funeral.  So, please have a look and consider completing the ‘Wish List’ it does not have to be done in one go, it can always be discussed with family too,  then everyone has peace of mind.  A copy of the completed ‘Wish List’ should be kept in a safe place, such as with the Will with family members being aware of this important document.

Some folk may wish to go further than the ‘Wish List’ and take out a Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plan, thus freezing our costs at today’s prices, this has proved to be such a benefit, especially to those who took out the plans many years ago.  For further information please call Lucienne on 01277 624289.

And finally………………………………

Diamond Jubilee Tea Dance, Sunday 27th May 2012

We have planned a traditional tea dance as a prelude to the Jubilee weekend, this is primarily being held for fun, although also as a fund raising event.  This will take place at the Hutton Banqueting Suite in Shenfield from 4.00pm until 7.00pm; tickets are £15 to include a traditional cream tea, dancing and/or toe tapping to the Dawn Chorus Choir.  We will also be running a raffle so prizes donated will be gratefully received.  Please contact Gary or Jane on 01277 210104 if you would like to book tickets for this nostalgic event.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this information,
