Dear Friends,
At long last, we are having some nice weather! Hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine.
Sad Loss
Sadly our dear friend Sheila Bennett died last Friday. Her funeral has been arranged to take place on Friday 3rd August, 1.45pm at St George the Martyr Church, Brentwood with a committal after at South Essex Crematorium. Her son Tim will be having refreshments afterwards, as of writing we are not sure of the venue, but if anyone would like to help with the tea/coffee please let us know. We would also like to know how many of you will be coming along so that the catering can be adjusted as necessary. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers in memory of Sheila, donations are invited for Cancer Research UK or The Alzheimer’s Society c/o Bennetts, Billericay. There will be a collection at our next meeting as well.
Papworth Trust Talk
Papworth Trust are coming to talk to us on 12th September between 1.30pm and 2pm. The young lady coming along to talk to us is Lindsey and the trust offers handymen etc at a reduced cost to pensioners. This is something most of us would be interested in.
1st August 2012 Lunch
The Artichoke is booked for 1st August for 27 people, sitting down at 12.30, we have asked them to reserve us the same area as before. If you would like to go please let one of us know.
Barnards Farm – West Horndon Trip
Barnards Farm – West Horndon. This is booked for Thursday 16thAugust 2012. We will meet at Barnards Farm for 1.30pm. This is self drive, we can drive some of you from Brentwood, and if you would be prepared to drive and offer some of the other group members a lift, please let us know.
The Alzheimers Society Memory Walk
Thorndon Memory Walk, with The Alzheimer’s Society – 30th September 2012. A one mile walk with a treasure hunt and a 9k walk. Registration is at 10am and the walks start at 11am. There will be other activities too.
Trip to Brentwood Museum
Brentwood museum closes at the end of October for winter, and if we do a self drive outing, maybe we can include afternoon tea at Mary Green Manor. Please let us know you’re interested in this and Jane will book a date.
Driving Miss Daisy, Palace Theatre Westcliff
We have also provisionally booked 20 seats for Driving Miss Daisy at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff for the matinee performance on Thursday 29th November 2012 at 2.30pm. The seats are situated upstairs so please be aware of this. For senior citizens the cost is £17.50, or £19.50. Plus travel. If you are interested in going, please let us know asap as this has to be paid in full by 29th October 2012.
