Bennetts Funeral Directors Jump To Help Others with The Mayor of Brentwood!
Sometime ago the Mayor of Brentwood, Cllr Ann Coe, happened to mention that she was organising a fund raising event in aid of Alzheimer’s, Crossroads Care and Frontline. Well ever the one to find a new challenge and support the community, Jane put herself forward. Having come back to the office to discuss her latest fund raiser, Claire and Sue volunteered to join in. It all seemed like such a good idea!
Time seemed to pass so quickly and before we knew it the weekend was here. On Sunday 5th May 2013 Team Bennett met up with The Mayor, Harry Derbidge from TOWIE, the Crossroads Team and Frontline Team at Headcorn Airfield in Kent for what can only be described as an ‘amazing’ experience. Family and friends came down to support all the jumpers which made the day even more enjoyable.
After an initial briefing, meeting our instructors and getting dressed for the occasion, Team Bennett took to the skies. After climbing 12,000ft, which seemed to pass very quickly, I would be lying if we all weren’t slightly apprehensive lets say, the door was opened and we all bailed out strapped in tandem to our brave instructors. Apart from the initial screams as we first left the plane, which we were told to do, something to do with air being released, I think we were all very calm and controlled. It is really such an amazing feeling, free falling at speed and then the peaceful calm descent once the parachute is opened, we were all on such a high when we landed. Something that none of us thought we would ever do, but put Charity in front of it and we all committed.
Team Bennett managed to raised approx £1500, for the three very deserving charities Alzheimer’s, Crossroads Care and Frontline.
So what will we do next you ask? Watch this space…………………………….!
