Bennetts Funeral Directors Christmas Window Display

Bennetts Christmas Window

The display was under the caption of ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ with a selection of pictures and notes re the history of the Carol, various aspects of types of bells and Bennetts Funeral Directors staff connections, eg. Lucienne with the local Town Crier, Jon, Ringing at St Thomas and Tony Morris Dancing in Billericay High Street.

In addition there was a selection of actual bells including School Bells, Hand Bells, Horse Brass & Harness Bells, even Belly Dancer Bells.

The glass of the window was decorated with Bat symbols and the legend of the saying ‘Bats in the Belfry’.

The real ‘eye catcher’ feature was a selection of real bell ropes draped across the entire window display with gold coloured bells attached.  The ropes kindly loaned by St Thomas Church Tower Captain, Chris Bailey and an additional scale model of the mechanism of a bell mountings loaned by an Essex Bell Ringer, Ron Brown.

The window was further enhanced by a very large selection of entries in our  ‘Decorate A Bell’ Competition, where competitors had a uniform bell diagram with which to decorate to their hearts content for inclusion in the window display, plus the chance of winning a prize for their efforts.
